Basil Smikle

Basil Smikle Jr., an American political strategist and educator, has nearly 20 years of experience in local, national, and international politics. He lectures at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and Teachers College. Basil holds a PhD in Politics and Education from Columbia University and an MPA. He’s a familiar face on MSNBC, CNN, and NY1, providing insights on electoral politics, governance, and urban education policy. In 2015, he served as the Executive Director of the New York State Democratic Party. Born and raised in the Bronx by Jamaican immigrants, Basil is a committed public servant and a sought-after consultant.
